Stonehaven is the closest thing our patch has to a secret: a band of farms and lifestyle blocks straight out the Hamilton Highway, ten-odd minutes from central Geelong, with the Barwon along one edge. The 2021 census counted just 79 people, but the for-sale signs tell the newer story, with hectare-scale lots being carved off the old farms and big new homes going up on them.
The Stonehaven internet pattern.
Here is the thing nobody mentions at land-sale time: this close to Geelong, the internet is still Fixed Wireless. Every Stonehaven address we checked on the nbn rollout data, along the Hamilton Highway and Pollocksford Road, is served off a tower, with the higher-speed FW Home Fast tier orderable and no fixed-line or fibre upgrade planned. If you are coming from a Geelong suburb with fibre to the premises, that is a real change, and how well it works at your place comes down almost entirely to the antenna: where it is mounted, where it points, and whether anyone has measured it since install day.
The houses do the rest.
The new builds going up on Stonehaven blocks are exactly the construction WiFi hates most: steel framing, foil insulation, double glazing, wide single-storey floorplans, and a shed or studio a hundred metres from the house. One router in the study has no chance. The good news is that this is a solved problem when it is planned: cabled access points in the right rooms, a proper link out to the shed, and an antenna that has actually been aimed. If you are still at the build stage, we will mark up your plans before the plaster goes on, which is the cheapest WiFi money you will ever spend.
What a visit looks like.
We are about 12 minutes from central Geelong, so Stonehaven bookings are usually inside the week, and the travel is already inside the flat $149. Around 90 minutes on site: heat maps of the house, real speed tests at the antenna and in every room, line-of-sight checks to any outbuilding you want covered. Written report within a day, plain English, ranked recommendations.
What we won’t do.
We will not sell a mesh kit to fix an antenna problem, and we will not let you spend money before the measurements say where the fault actually is. If the honest answer is “re-aim the dish and move the router”, that is the report you will get. Stonehaven’s farms, new blocks and river bends are all inside our patch, no travel fee.
