Meredith sits at the top of our service area, 800-odd people on the Midland Highway halfway between Geelong and Ballarat, better known to the rest of the country for a goat cheese and a music festival than for its internet. The internet deserves the attention too, because the whole town runs on Fixed Wireless and most of it has never been measured properly.

There is no fixed line to the kerb in Meredith. Every township address we checked on the nbn rollout data, from Staughton Street to Wallace Street, is served by Fixed Wireless, no fibre upgrade is planned, and the faster FW Home Fast tier is now orderable. That means your connection comes off a tower, through an antenna on your roof, and everything downstream depends on how well that antenna was installed and whether anyone has looked at it since. Farms further out can fall past the wireless footprint into Sky Muster satellite territory, which is a different conversation again, and one we have honestly.
The blocks do the rest.
Meredith housing runs from original weatherboards and brick homes in the township grid to lifestyle blocks on the edges and proper farms beyond. The township homes have the classic long-house problem: a router at one end, a dead back bedroom at the other. The blocks and farms have the distance problem: the house, the shed, the studio and the stables all want coverage, and one router in the kitchen was never going to deliver that. Both are fixable, and neither fix starts with buying a more expensive router.
What a visit looks like.
We come straight up the Midland Highway past Bannockburn and Lethbridge, and travel is already inside the flat $199. The visit takes around 90 minutes: heat maps of the house, real speed tests at the antenna and in every room, and a clear separation of what is a Fixed Wireless problem versus a WiFi problem. What we won’t do.
We will not sell you a mesh kit to fix an antenna problem, and we will not talk you onto satellite before measuring what the wireless at your address actually delivers.
