Why Gellibrand is its own WiFi problem.
The village sits on the Gellibrand River flats with tall Otways timber climbing both sides of the valley — the same country that made the old Beechy narrow-gauge line take the slow, winding way through. Fixed Wireless is genuinely available here (we’ve verified it at real addresses on Main Road and the Colac-Lavers Hill Road), but whether YOUR place gets a usable signal comes down to what’s between your antenna and the tower. On the flats, usually nothing. Backed into the trees, sometimes sixty metres of eucalypt.
The honest bit about distance.
Gellibrand is about 75 minutes from the Geelong end of our patch, and we’d rather say that plainly than pretend we’re around the corner. The fee doesn’t change — $149 flat, travel included — but deep-Otways jobs get batched together, so the booking might land a few days further out than a Geelong one. When we come, we come with the full diagnostic kit and we don’t rush the visit.
What you get on the day.
About 90 minutes on site: heat maps through the house, real speed tests at the places you actually sit, a proper look at the antenna and its line-of-sight, and — where it’s relevant — a straight answer on whether Fixed Wireless, Sky Muster or Starlink is the right tool for your block. Written report inside 24 hours, plain English, ranked recommendations.
What we won’t do.
We won’t sell you a mesh kit to fix a line-of-sight problem, and we won’t recommend Starlink to someone whose Fixed Wireless just needs the antenna moved two metres. If the right answer is “spend nothing”, that’s the answer you’ll get. Postcode 3239 and the valley around it are inside the patch — no travel fee.
