Cressy is one of the furthest towns in our service area and one of the most genuinely rural: 176 people, a bridge over the Woady Yaloak, an old railway junction, and cropping and sheep country running to the horizon in every direction. Internet out here is not complicated because it is bad. It is complicated because there are two different systems in play and most people have never been told which one their address is actually on.

On the nbn rollout data, Cressy splits cleanly. The township and the nearer rural roads we checked are Fixed Wireless, served off a tower, and the township address we tested could order the top FW Superfast tier, which is quicker than plenty of suburban connections in Geelong. Some of the roads further out show as Sky Muster satellite country instead. Those are two very different services with different strengths, and the right setup, the right plan and the right expectations depend entirely on which one your address gets. That is the first thing we confirm, before anyone spends a dollar.
The properties do the rest.
A Cressy address is rarely just a house. It is a farmhouse, a machinery shed, a workshop, sometimes silos and pump gear, spread across distances no single router was ever designed for. The house end is usually solvable with sensible placement and honest measurement. The shed end is a planning job: a point-to-point wireless link or a proper cable run, sized for the actual distance rather than guessed at. Both are well-trodden work for us across the Golden Plains farming towns.
What a visit looks like.
We come straight out the Hamilton Highway through Inverleigh, and the travel is already inside the flat $199. Around 90 minutes on site: heat maps of the house, real speed tests at the antenna and in every room you use, line-of-sight checks to any outbuildings you want covered. What we won’t do.
We will not guess your technology from the postcode, and we will not recommend Starlink, satellite or new gear before measuring what your address already delivers.
