Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a WiFi assessment take?
Most assessments take 60-90 minutes. I'll test every room, scan for interference, check your router settings, and walk you through what I find before I leave. You'll also receive a written report with a coverage heat map within 24 hours.
Do you sell routers or equipment?
I'm not here to sell you a new router — I'm here to find out what's actually wrong. Often the fix is a simple settings change that costs nothing. If new equipment genuinely is the best solution, I'll explain why and give you options. I can source and install it for you, or you're welcome to buy it yourself. No pressure either way.
What areas do you service?
I cover Geelong, Surf Coast, and the Bellarine Peninsula — including Belmont, Newtown, Highton, Waurn Ponds, Torquay, Ocean Grove, and surrounding suburbs. If you're not sure whether you're in my service area, just ask.
My internet provider says everything is fine but I still have problems. Can you help?
This is exactly what I specialise in. ISPs can only see their connection to your house — they can't diagnose what's happening with your WiFi inside. I use professional tools to find issues like channel conflicts, interference, and router misconfigurations that ISP support simply can't detect.
How much does it cost?
WiFi assessments are $99 fixed price, so you know the cost upfront with no hourly surprises. Installations are quoted after the assessment once I understand exactly what your home needs.
What if you can't fix my problem?
If I diagnose an issue that's outside my scope (like an NBN line fault), I'll tell you exactly that and help you escalate to the right people with the evidence they need. You'll still get value from understanding what's actually wrong.
Do I need to be home?
Yes — I'll need access to your router and to test coverage throughout your property. I'll also want to ask questions about which rooms matter most and what devices you use.
What should I have ready before you arrive?
Just make sure you know where your router is and have your WiFi password handy. If you have any paperwork from your ISP (like NBN connection details), that can be helpful but isn't essential.
Can you help with business WiFi?
Yes, I work with small businesses as well as homes. Business assessments may take longer depending on the size of the premises and are quoted accordingly.
What's the difference between you and calling Geeks2U or Jim's IT?
General IT support companies are generalists — they fix everything from printers to email. WiFi is a specialty that requires specific tools and expertise. I focus exclusively on WiFi, using the same professional diagnostic equipment enterprise consultants use. That means faster, more accurate diagnosis and better solutions.
